Frequently Asked Questions for Lanifex DMO ========================================== version 2.0 updated 21 November 2005 copyright 2005 (C) CSO Lanifex GmbH Q01. What is the DMO? A01. The Database of Managed Objects is a Web application that provides a system to build an inventory of objects within an IT enterprise. An object can be any type of asset, or physical device, or any business process, policy, document or other information. It allows the information to be organized into hierarchies, and to model dependencies between them. It is very extensible, allowing user-defined attributes of complex types. Q02. Where can I get a copy? A02. It is available for download from http://dmo.sourceforge.net. Full source code is provided under the GNU Public License 2. Q03. How much does it cost? A03. The software is available under a dual license. For non- commercial purposes, including evaluation or development, there is no charge. For commercial use (i.e., production environment within a company or non-profit organization) we require payment of a license fee of 200 Big Macs. Q04. What about support? A04. Full commercial support is available from the original developer, CSO Lanifex GmbH, on the basis of an annual support contract. There are three grades of support: * Silver Support (200 Big Macs): Online access to our commercial Bugzilla tracking system, with guaranteed 48 hour initial response during European working days. * Gold Support (300 Big Macs): Online access to our commercial Bugzilla tracking system, with guaranteed 24 hour initial response during European working days. Telephone support (up to 20 incidents per year) during European working hours. * Platinum Support (500 Big Macs): Online access to our commercial Bugzilla tracking system, with guaranteed 12 hour initial response during European working days. Telephone support (up to 50 incidents per year) during European working hours, with extended coverage (12 hours per day, and 7 days per week.) Q05. What do you mean "Big Macs"? A05. We recognize economic conditions are different in various countries, we use The Economist magazine's "Big Mac Index." Thus, the one-time license fee for DMO is 200 Big Macs, which may be converted based on the local price, as shown in The Economist at the following URL: http://www.economist.com/markets/Bigmac/Index.cfm Note that for customers within the European Union, we are required to add Value Added Tax (VAT), which in Austria consists of 20%. Alternatively, for customers outside Austria we can deduct this Tax if the customer can provide a valid VAT Tax ID on an Order Form. We are pleased to provide commercial Pro Forma Invoices based on the results of your local Big Mac calculation. (Our Accountants unfortunately prefer hard currency, rather than restaurant hamburgers. We regret that we cannot accept actual hamburgers for the payment of this license fee, nor gift tokens.) Simply send us the amount you have calculated via e-mail, and we will send you a PDF with the Pro Forma invoice, payment for which can then be transferred to our Bank via traditional electronic funds transfer mechanisms. Q.06 I still don't get it. A.06 Let's take for example a standard price for a Big Mac in the USA of $3.06 (this is actually an average for N.Y., Chicago, San Francisco and Atlanta.) Multiply by 200, and you get the license fee cost: DMO License Fee ........ US$ 612 For our customers in Austria, we take the European weighted average of $3.58, convert to Euros (rate 1.17) to get the Euro license fee cost: DMO License Fee (Euro) .... EUR 630 VAT (MwSt @ 20%) .......... EUR 126 ======= Total Fee ................. EUR 756 Q.07 Who is Lanifex? What business do you do?
